Mid-Winter Institute 2010: Students created animation projects in a variety of mediums.

The Cinema School is a selective high school.  We base our admissions decisions on:

  • ELA and Math Scores (preference given to level 3 and 4)
  • Course grades (preference given to 85 averages and above)
  • Attendance (preference given to students with 95% attendance or better)

If you do not meet all of our selection criteria, but are still interested, you can schedule an interview with us.  Our interview process will include a creative writing and group activity, and a short Math diagnostic exam.  To schedule an interview you can:

  • Attend one of our Open House events in the fall
  • Come visit our table at the High School Fair in October

Students transferring mid-year or students transferring from outside of New York City public schools must visit a NYC Dept of Education Student Enrollment Center to enroll.

Activities & Programs offered at The Cinema School:  Visual Arts & Filmmaking (Mid-Winter Institute and afterschool filmmaking), School Newspaper and Yearbook Club, Debate, Computer Animation.  All students are eligible to play on any Monroe campus sports teams, including basketball, baseball, swimming, volleyball, and soccer.
